Fire Procedure

1. Introduction
The Fire Policy of 2PRU Gymnastics Club outlines the procedures and guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals in the event of a fire or fire alarm. This policy emphasises the organised and efficient evacuation procedures and the importance of cooperation to minimise risks and protect our gymnastics community.

2. Evacuation Procedure
In the event of a fire or fire alarm, the following evacuation procedure must be strictly followed:

2.1 Group Formation

Participants should immediately assemble in a single file line with their current coach.

Once ready, gymnasts must stay with their coach and remain in a single file line to the designated fire exit in an orderly and sensible manner.

2.2 Leave Personal Belongings
-
Do not attempt to gather personal belongings during an evacuation, even if we or Tadcaster Grammar School conduct a practice fire drill.​​
2.3 Gymnasts' Behaviour
-
Gymnasts should form single-file lines, maintain silence, and stay together with their group and coach throughout the evacuation process.
2.4 Evacuation for Non-Participants

Non-participants, including parents and visitors, must follow the fire evacuation protocol.

Parents/ Guardians must immediately leave the building through the nearest accessible fire exit without attempting to reach their child directly.
2.5 Building Check

At our Tadcaster Grammar School site, if a fire alarm is heard, the current and all subsequent gymnastics sessions for the day will be cancelled.

All Parents/ Guardians in the current gymnastics session will be contacted as a first priority via telephone/ SMS.

All Parents/ Guardians in all subsequent classes will be bulk contacted via email.
2.6 Fire Assembly Point

Primary fire assembly point:

Tadcaster Grammar School's Bus Park.​

Upon exiting the gym block, the Bus Park can be located by bearing slightly right on the footpath i.e. the opposite direction of the Main Car Park. Continue on this footpath until the end.

Secondary fire assembly point:

The Field In Front Of The Astro Turf.​

Upon exiting the gym block, the aforementioned field can be located by going all the way right behind the gym block. Keep following this path and pass the tennis courts on your left. Walk up the small flight of concrete stairs to the field - located next to the outdoor basketball hoop by the "Boy's Gym".

2.7 Register and Further Instructions

A register will be taken at the fire assembly point to account for all gymnasts and staff.

Await further instructions from a designated safety personnel or a member of the senior 2PRU Team.
3. Fire Safety Protocols
3.1 Regular Fire Drills

Periodic fire drills will familiarise everyone with evacuation procedures and promote a calm response during emergencies.
3.2 Clear Signage

Visible signs will indicate fire exits, evacuation routes, and the fire assembly point throughout the facility.

3.3 Break Glass Call Point

Fire alarm break glass call points are available throughout the premises.

Proper usage instructions must be followed. Improper use may result in dismissal from classes.
3.4 Unobstructed Exits

Clear paths to exits must be maintained at all times.
