2PRU Gymnastics Club
First Aid
Last Updated: 09/02/2026
First Aid Training: Considering the nature of our sport and the potential for injuries, all members of the 2PRU coaching team and all members of the Safeguarding and Welfare Team are required to undergo mandatory basic first aid training. This ensures that the 2PRU Team are adequately equipped to provide initial medical assistance when needed.
Reporting Illness or Injury: Participants should immediately inform their coach if they feel unwell or sustain an injury during their session. Timely reporting enables coaches to take appropriate action and ensure the safety and well-being of the affected individual.
Handling Injuries Before Class: If your child is injured before their scheduled gymnastics session, Parents/ Guardians must immediately inform their coach. The coaching team will take appropriate measures to make any necessary adaptations to your child's upcoming gymnastics session.
On-Site First Aid Box: A fully stocked first aid box will be available on-site at all times. This ensures that immediate first aid can be administered by a member of the 2PRU Team in case of injuries or medical emergencies.
Defibrillator: To enhance safety measures, we have access to a nearby defibrillator that will be available to use at the facility.
Medical Info and Emergency Contact Details: Each gymnast’s medical information is gathered through a PARQ. This information will be documented and stored securely on our online portal.
Medical Equipment: Parents or Guardians of children with medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes or allergies are required to ensure that their child comes to every single gymnastics session with the required medical equipment, such as Epi-Pens or Inhalers. All medical equipment must be in good working condition as well as being in date.
Regular Update of Contact and Medical Details: Parents/ Guardians are responsible for regularly updating their child's emergency contact information and/ or medical records. This information is crucial for providing quick and appropriate care during emergencies. Parents or guardians must inform the club in writing of any changes to a child's information in order for us as a club to avoid storing out of date information.
Emergency Contact and 999 Calls: In extreme circumstances where immediate medical attention is required, a senior member of the 2PRU Team may contact emergency services (e.g. 999) before notifying the child's emergency contact. This decision is at the 2PRU Team's discretion and is made in the best interest of safeguarding the gymnast's overall health and well-being.
Ongoing Risk Assessments: To minimise the likelihood of accidents and injuries, the club conducts thorough and regular risk assessments and risk checks.
By implementing this comprehensive first aid policy, we prioritise the well-being and safety of all participants at 2PRU Gymnastics Club, and we aim to respond effectively to medical emergencies and incidents requiring first aid assistance.
