Recreational Gymnastics Coach
Full-Time | 16+ Hours Per Week | 5 Days Per Week (Including Sunday) | £8-16 per hour
About The Role:
Are you ready to take your coaching career to the next level? At 2PRU Gymnastics Club, we’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Full-Time Recreational Gymnastics Coach to join our vibrant team. This role is ideal for experienced coaches with a Level 2 qualification who want to make a meaningful impact in children’s lives while contributing to a supportive and forward-thinking club culture.
You’ll be at the heart of the action, leading sessions, creating lesson plans, supporting your team, and engaging with the wider gymnastics community both inside and outside the gym.
In-Gym Responsibilities:
As a key member of our coaching team, your responsibilities will include:
Maintain a Safe Environment: Identify, assess, and reduce risks related to skills, activities, and equipment set-up.
Facility Responsibility: Open and close the gym securely, report equipment faults, and ensure proper equipment setup and storage.
Warm Welcomes: Greet gymnasts and their grown-ups with energy and professionalism, building lasting rapport.
Deliver High-Energy Sessions: Lead warm-ups, coach up to 8 children per group across various apparatus, and deliver well-structured, inclusive lessons that blend recreational gymnastics with freestyle, acro, and display elements.
Collaborate with Coaches: Work as a team to support, mentor, and give feedback to fellow coaches and youth leaders.
Provide Targeted Support: Adapt sessions to meet individual gymnast needs using manual, mechanical, verbal, and visual support techniques.
Session Reflection & Feedback: Offer constructive feedback to gymnasts on both technical and personal development.
Explore Diverse Disciplines: Get involved in sessions beyond recreational gymnastics, including Pre-School, Display, Adult, and SEND classes.
Community Outreach: Deliver sessions in local schools and help grow 2PRU’s impact in the wider community.
Class Control: Use effective techniques to manage groups of varying ages with confidence and care.
Out-of-Gym Responsibilities
Beyond the gym, you’ll also contribute to the club’s wider success:
Lesson Planning: Design innovative and age-appropriate lesson plans that inspire and challenge.
Support Club Development: Contribute to our coaching syllabus and actively participate in coaching workshops.
Admin & Operations: Learn to support key admin tasks such as managing registers, handling payments, collecting feedback, processing enrolments, and more.
Communication: Answer club phone calls and engage positively on our social media platforms.
Uphold Standards: Help ensure cleanliness of the facility, manage stock (e.g. medical supplies & merchandise), and uphold club policies and code of conduct.
Team Wellbeing: Foster a positive team environment—support fellow staff, maintain open communication, and work closely with the Safeguarding and Welfare team.
Desired Personality Traits:
We’re looking for someone who embodies the following:
Open to Feedback: Willing to grow through both praise and constructive coaching advice.
People-Oriented: Builds strong relationships with gymnasts, families, and fellow team members.
Patient & Understanding: Embraces the unique pace of each child’s development.
Responsible & Reflective: Takes ownership of coaching practice and seeks continual improvement.
Clear Communicator: Uses multiple methods (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) to connect with gymnasts.
Professional Presence: Maintains appropriate posture and positioning during sessions—always alert, never passive.
Creative & Forward-Thinking: Brings fresh ideas, shares insights, and contributes actively in team discussions.
Strong Leader: Capable of guiding others, managing tasks, and acting as a role model.
Motivated & Organised: Demonstrates strong time management, reliability, and a proactive attitude.
Flexible & Resilient: Adaptable to different session types, timeframes, and team needs.
Community-Minded: Represents the club positively inside and outside the gym.
Essential Qualifications:
