Position: Part Time
Recreational Gymnastics Coach
Part-Time | 1-16 Hours Per Week | 5 Days Per Week (Including Sunday) | £8-16 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
As a recreational gymnastics coach at 2PRU Gymnastics Club, you will have the opportunity to:
Prepare & Lead Engaging Lessons: Understand and follow lesson plans, assisting with setting up and dismantling gymnastics equipment.
Prioritise Safety: Identify and mitigate risks related to skills, activities, and equipment setup.
Welcome Gymnasts With Enthusiasm: Greet children and their families, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Collaborate & Coach: Work alongside fellow coaches to deliver dynamic, inclusive gymnastics classes for children of all ages.
Lead Warm-Ups & Stretches: Facilitate warm-up sessions for up to 16 gymnasts, ensuring they’re ready for their workout.
Coach Multiple Groups: Support small groups (up to 8 children) across various gymnastics apparatus, focusing on recreational gymnastics with elements of freestyle, acro, and display.
Provide Constructive Feedback: Reflect on each session, providing gymnasts with meaningful feedback on their progress in both gymnastics and personal development.
Adapt Activities To Meet Individual Needs: Modify activities to challenge or support gymnasts based on their progress and skill level.
Support All Children Effectively: Provide manual, mechanical, verbal, or visual assistance to ensure safety and skill development.
Class control: Utilise various techniques to manage and engage children of different ages.

Develop Your Skills: Contribute to the creation of our coaching syllabus and participate in coaching workshops to enhance your teaching abilities.

Professionalism: Uphold high standards of professionalism both inside and outside of the gym.
Creativity & Innovation: Bring fresh ideas to the table and actively engage in workshops to improve coaching techniques.
Leadership Skills: Take initiative in leading tasks and guiding others when necessary.
Essential Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, the following qualifications are required:
Coaching Qualification: Recognised Level 1 qualification in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG), Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG), or General Gymnastics (GG).
Enhanced DBS: A successful enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (cost of DBS reimbursed upon successful application).
Safeguarding and Welfare Qualification: An active, recognised qualification or enrolment in one through 2PRU Gymnastics Club.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
While not essential, the following qualifications and experiences will increase your chances of success:

Level 2 or higher qualification in WAG, MAG, or GG.

Additional coaching qualifications in specialised areas such as Pre-School, Freestyle, or Acro.

Background as a gymnast or prior coaching experience, particularly in gymnastics.

Experience working with children or in a sports coaching environment.

Basic First Aid training and any other relevant qualifications.
